Propan und A2L Lösungen für Wärmepumpenanwendungen 
The F-Gas regulation is in force within the European Union starting on 1st of January 2015. Since then it is promoting and driving a gradual reduction in F-Gases until 2050. The reduction will be achieved by a number of changes affecting many industries including commercial refrigeration, air conditioning and consequently heat pumps. The F-gas regulation enforces a phasing down of current high GWP refrigerants. Medium term horizon it allows the utilization of refrigerants with a GWP below 700, while a long term scenario shows that the GWP value shall fall below 150. As of today there is no clear winner, but, among many options, R290 is a viable candidate to fulfill all these requirements. Propane is in fact a natural refrigerant which has long been known for its good performances. It has zero ozone depletion potential, negligible GWP, as well as excellent thermodynamic properties. Thanks to its characteristics it allows heat pump systems to run a wider spectrum of operating conditions and reaches higher water temperatures. R290 systems would require on average less than half the charge size of current HFCs. It is classified as highly flammable, therefore specific regulatory and design requirements apply from a system prospective. On the other hand, hydrocarbon systems impose different and often more stringent responsibilities on component manufactures, OEMs and end users.
