“Blue House”, a virtuous example of the main trends of the European HVAC market [8] Vortragssprache Englisch

The EPBD directive is under reinforcement for improving energy performance of the buildings looking for a decarbonized building stock. Heat pump technology plays a key role within the European Climate Action in reducing the GGH and building energy consumptions. Moreover, the recent COVID pandemic has highlighted the importance of the Indoor Environmental Quality as a key parameter both for renovation as well as for new buildings. Within this framework, Swegon presents a case study on a new installation in an Office building in Malmo (Sweden) called “Blue House”. An high efficiency reversible inverter heat pump with refrigerant with low global warming potential has been designed. The plant is highly optimized in terms of total efficiency thanks to the deep synergy of the cooling/heating production, distribution network and loads. The heat pump system communicates in real time with the AHU and room terminals, ensuring the best IEQ and continuously minimizing the energy consumption. The system manufacturer, the designer and the installer have collaborated actively in order to model the thermal loads of the system, detecting the maximum peak requests to properly size the units and defining the most efficient and effective control strategies for the units and the hydronic system. Analysis demonstrated that with a smart adaptive control of the working setpoints of the heat pump, depending on the AHU and room terminals demand, it is possible to achieve up to a 10% saving in cooling compared to a standard scenario with no optimization, and a 15 % saving in heating. The digitalization of the whole plant allows local and remote connectivity with full control of the plant parameters and consumptions. The IEQ and system consumption become tangible. The plant data and parameters can be visualized and modified in the dedicated app accessing to the cloud network, and locally Indoor Air Quality dashboards are shown in the building lobby. The “Blue House” is a virtuous example of the main current trends in the European HVAC market: environmental sustainability, system integration and digitalization.
