Xabier Peña

Senior researcher in the Efficient thermal energy systems department / Tecnalia

Xabier Peña (senior researcher) (BSc) Mechanical Engineer, (MSc) Fluid Thermodynamics Engineering and (MSc) Innovation and Technology Management. From 2006 to 2010 worked as R&D Engineer in the industrial refrigeration company Ramon Vizcaino S.A., designing/simulating components for NH3 chillers. Since 2010 working as R&D Engineer in the Thermal Energy department of Tecnalia, from 2013 to present he has belonged to a research team focused on simulation, design, manufacturing and testing of Heat Pumps and High Temperature Heat Pumps using natural and low GWP refrigerants. Currently developing his PhD titled “Design and experimental validation of a Propane dual-source heat pump” on the Doctoral Program of the University of Basque country (UPV/EHU). Design and simulation expert with skills, that are continuously upgraded, in: Dymola-Modelica- Til Library, EES (Engineering equation solver), CFD, etc.
