High temperature Heat Pump with 150 °C condensing temperature [18]

Market leader in natural refrigeration: Dorin started developing R-744 transcritical compressors in 1991 with the first transcritical application in late ‘90s. In 2012 Dorin developed the ATEX range with dedicated technology for hydrocarbon solutions.

Today, there is an enormous heating demand in industrial processes up to 200 °C, which covers around 30 % of the total thermal energy demand. Heat Pumps represent the best way to decarbonize industry while increasing the energy efficiency and reducing the primary energy consumption.

There is a consistent potential to implement the Heat Pump technology in industrial processes where high temperature heating above 100 °C is required. Huge energy savings can be achieved combining both cooling and heating capacities or upgrading waste heat to higher temperatures.

Dealing with such various temperature levels and extreme pressure ratio between the heat sources and sinks can be achieved with excellent COP. Dorin expands its product offering by introducing an innovative range of natural refrigerant compressors (R-744 and hydrocarbons) specially designed for high efficiency and presents its technology for R-744 and hydrocarbon Heat Pumps. A study on high temperature Heat Pumps reaching 150 °C condensing temperature and recent improvements together with TNO will be presented in the lecture.
