Revolutionizing manufacturing: The plus project's sustainable transformation with R-290 HPs [35]
The Plus project in Magnor, Norway, aims to transform the Plus factory into the world's most environmentally friendly furniture manufacturing facility.
The core of this project is based of Enrad Heat Pumps equipped with Frascold compressors, specifically designed for hydrocarbon Heat Pump applications. Enrad, a renowned company specializing in Heat Pump technology, has developed cutting-edge Heat Pumps that utilize the natural refrigerant R-290. These Heat Pumps play a crucial role in providing efficient process heating and cooling for the production line, contributing to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Frascold, a leading compressor manufacturer, has designed and supplied compressors tailored for use in hydrocarbon-based Heat Pumps. These compressors ensure optimal performance and reliability in the Heat Pump systems, enabling the efficient utilization of R-290 as a refrigerant. The collaborative efforts of Enrad and Frascold highlight the importance of industry partnerships in driving sustainable innovations. By combining Enrad's expertise in Heat Pump technology with Frascold's specialized compressors for hydrocarbon Heat Pumps, the Plus project achieves remarkable energy efficiency and environmental performance.
The Plus factory features various sustainable solutions, as waste heat recovery and geothermal energy sources, providing both comfort heating and cooling in the building, while further reducing the environmental impact. Moreover, the Plus project aims to obtain the highest environmental rating by meeting the stringent requirements for BREEAM classification as "Outstanding." This recognition underscores the project commitment to sustainability and showcases its adherence to rigorous environmental standards.
Merging Enrad and Frascold most advanced technologies and products, the Plus project demonstrates the significant potential of environmentally friendly technologies in industrial settings. This collaborative effort not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also highlights the feasibility of sustainable practices within the manufacturing industry. It serves as an exemplary model for future endeavours, inspiring other companies to embrace eco-friendly solutions and contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.
