The planning for the European Heat Pump Summit at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg on 26 and 27 October 2021 is in full swing. In this interview, Daniela Heinkel, Exhibition Director at NürnbergMesse, talks about how the preparations are going and explains what participants can look forward to at the venue.

Ms Heinkel, can you give us an idea of what to expect from the European Heat Pump Summit 2021?

Daniela Heinkel: As usual, the European Heat Pump Summit bridges the gap year between the biennial Chillventa exhibition, offering the international heat pump sector the opportunity to discuss the latest market developments, R&D topics and application trends. We are delighted that after such a long time it is finally possible to hold a live gathering on site in Nuremberg again. The European Heat Pump Summit brings together renowned speakers and international decision-makers from industry, commerce and the R&D community. This year, the congress will be complemented by a range of digital features. For example, all presentations will be streamed online, so they are also available to participants unable to attend the congress in person. Moreover, all participants will be able to enjoy online networking and dialogue, as we are providing all the usual networking options both on site and online. The accompanying Foyer Expo gives companies and associations the chance to present their services and product innovations to a professional audience. The high-calibre event focuses on innovative technologies in component manufacture and the use of heat pumps in industrial and commercial applications. It also explores questions associated with refrigerants and the use of hybrid systems and high-temperature heat pumps.

How many registrations have been received so far and how are the preparations going?

Daniela Heinkel: In these turbulent times, the need within the sector for interaction and discussion is clearly reflected in the number of registrations we’ve received. In response to our Call for Presentation we already have around 40 papers by high-calibre speakers, which has allowed us to put together a very exciting programme covering numerous topical issues affecting the industry. The Foyer Expo is also proving very popular with companies and there are only a few spots left. Information on the presentations and a list of exhibitors taking part in the Foyer Expo is available from: www.hp-summit.de/programme

What hygiene measures are you putting in place to protect participants?

Daniela Heinkel: Naturally, the European Heat Pump Summit will be held in compliance with the hygiene provisions in force at the time. In the Room Brüssel and foyer in NCC Mitte, where the event is being held, our optimized and highly efficient ventilation systems ensure a supply of outdoor air for the necessary air exchange. The air in the conference rooms is replaced at least ten times an hour, i.e., there is a complete air change every five minutes. The exhaust air escapes to the atmosphere via the roof and does not flow back to the exhibition grounds, and the outdoor air is filtered before entry. As a result, there is a genuinely fresh air quality to events held in Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. The extra ventilation measures complement personal protection measures like assigned seating, contact data collection, social distancing rules and the wearing of masks, all of which remain in force. All measures will be constantly updated to reflect current circumstances. For details go to:
